As Alec Purdie explains, though it is not good practice, there will be instances onsite where firestoppers are not able to get to both sides of the supporting construction. We now have test evidence where you can install QuelStop Fire Batt, double layer, from one side only. This detail does require a framed and lined aperture; however, feedback from our customers suggested that onsite it is unlikely that you will have that. Therefore, we have also tested a way to line the opening using QuelStop Fire Batt.
