How Do Fire Wraps Work?

When exposed to fire, the intumescent material of the fire wrap expands and forms a carbonaceous char. This effectively seals the opening left behind by the melting pipe, maintaining the building’s compartmentation and preventing fire spread. Our fire wraps offer Type X Durability, making them ideal for projects exposed to all types of weathering.

What is the Difference Between Fire Wraps and Fire Collars?

Intumescent fire wraps and intumescent fire collars are very similar in the way they work. The main difference between the two products is that fire collars have an outer metal shell that prevents the intumescent material from expanding outwards. In contrast, pipe wraps do not contain an outer metal shell. They are manufactured specifically to fit around pipes contained within a solid construction.
