Hayley Clay

Marketing Manager

Meet Hayley, who brings a decade of marketing experience to Quelfire. Learn more about her role as Marketing Manager, her favourite projects, and how she overcomes any hurdles.

Background

In total, I have about a decade of experience in marketing! I started out as an apprentice in general business administration, but within my first two weeks, I was tasked with organising an exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham, which sparked my passion for marketing, design, and advertising. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to work across a wide range of industries, both B2B and B2C. I even took on freelance work in strategy consulting, graphic design, and web design during the pandemic for local businesses.

Role

As Marketing Manager at Quelfire, I have a highly varied and dynamic role where no two days are the same. I oversee our full range of marketing efforts, from managing the website and digital ads to coordinating printed materials and events. My main focus is setting the strategy to drive Quelfire’s growth. It’s incredibly rewarding to see the impact of our work as we move the company forward.

Her biggest challenges and how she overcomes them

One of my biggest challenges has been that little voice in my head asking, “Are you sure?” In marketing, where everything feels like one big experiment, this can be both helpful and a bit of a roadblock. It keeps me on my toes, but it also makes me second-guess myself sometimes. To work through this, I’ve started reframing that question to, “Why are you sure?” or “How are you sure?” It helps me make decisions that are backed by solid reasoning or actual data, so I feel more confident moving forward.

Favourite projects

Aside from my core focus of analysing data, strategising, and creating enormous spreadsheets, I’ve always had a strong eye for design, so I’m quick to volunteer for any design-related projects! It’s the creative aspect of my role that I’m really passionate about and eager to contribute to whenever possible.

What she likes about working for Quelfire

In a nutshell, I love the strong sense of teamwork and shared purpose. Everyone is genuinely passionate about what they do, and there’s a real energy that makes each day interesting and unique – no two days are the same! It’s great to feel valued and to know that every person’s work has a clear purpose. We’re all working towards a shared goal, and it feels like a place where teamwork truly makes the dream work!

What she enjoys doing when not working

When I’m not working, I like to stay active by getting outside for walks and exploring nature. I’m also a big fan of live music, so you’ll often find me around Stoke-on-Trent or Manchester, checking out local bands – or catching my husband on the drums with his band, FOARN (shameless plug!). But above all, I love spending quality time with friends and family.
