Meet Gill, our longest serving employee and the heart of our operations, who explains how she arranges production of made to order products while ensuring the stock levels of our off-the-shelf products are always up to date.
Having gained an honours degree at Manchester Polytechnic (now Manchester University), I worked for an engineering company for almost ten years. I joined Quelfire in 1989, initially as a receptionist/general office assistant and have since worked in a variety of roles.
My current role involves arranging despatch of orders and organising manufacturing at our Sandbach and Northenden premises.
One of the biggest challenges is ensuring that “made to order” projects are completed as quickly as possible whilst maintaining general stock levels, usually achieved by efficient planning whilst still retaining a certain amount of flexibility.
It’s extremely satisfying to see completed consignments leaving the factory and to know that they’re contributing to the safety of people and property. Working for, and alongside, such a professional but also friendly company is a pleasure and one of the things I value.
Outside of work I enjoy needlecrafts, gardening, reading, and watching football.
