Liz Birkenhead Joins as Operations Team Leader
Her Story
Liz joined Quelfire in June 2025 with a strong background in customer service, accounting, and administration.
She has worked in many industries, like airlines and manufacturing. This broad experience has helped her adapt to different business environments.
Role and Responsibilities at Quelfire
In her role as Operations Team Leader, Liz’s day-to-day involves taking sales orders, converting them into dispatched orders, and booking the consignment with the relevant courier.
She works alongside other teams, such as customer support, internal sales, and warehouse teams, to resolve any outstanding queries and make sure goods are dispatched accurately and on time.
Communication, Communication, Communication
Liz uses her strong communication skills to support customers and keep operations running smoothly by making sure all orders are accurately processed and shipped before the end of each day.
Welcoming Miller Harvey to the Technical Team
Career Journey
After completing his studies in 2023, Miller explored roles in accounting and the fire door industry before joining Quelfire in 2025 as Technical Client Relations Executive.
What This Means for Our Clients
Simply, more support.
Miller’s main priority is helping customers identify the most relevant standard installation detail for their application.
He also collaborates with clients at the design stage to ensure that each service penetration is accounted for, so the building is designed and built around the available tested details.
This approach makes firestopping non-negotiable from the beginning, ultimately saving lives. It also helps achieve compliance and avoid hidden costs and delays.
Strengthening the Way We Work
It’s no secret that construction is complex, and no one person knows everything – it's very much a team effort.
The addition of Miller helps us meet the demand for technical support, allowing us to provide more on-hand guidance for compliant decisions.
Introducing Roy Burt, Our New Project Pipeline Manager
Years in Construction
Furthermore, Roy has nearly a decade of ‘on-the-tools’ experience in fencing and hard landscaping, as well as working on English Heritage sites.
He later moved into estimating and sales roles within the school and construction industries, which eventually led him to collaborate with architects, where he focused on building segregation.
Roy's Day-to-Day
As a new position created in 2025, his role involves establishing a process to bring together all key scheme activities and create a clear ‘pipeline’ of projects.
Roy’s role is a collaborative one, which sees him working closely with architects and contractors from their first enquiry to the specification of fire stopping solutions.
The Importance of the Pipeline
What’s encouraging about the project pipeline is that it benefits both our internal organisation and the level of service we provide to customers.
It’s already demonstrating value by helping us stay ahead of orders and prepare for upcoming projects: taking a proactive, rather than reactive approach.
For our customers, it ensures:
- That nothing is missed because everything is tracked
- Better support from us as we can engage at the right stages
- Improved communication because everyone understands the project timeline
- Better resource planning, as we can provide more accurate lead times and delivery information
Josh Hutchins Expands Our Sales Department
His Studies
He found that these subjects sparked his interest in working with and helping others, leading him to his current position as Internal Sales Account Manager.
Connecting With Others
Josh’s A-Levels boosted his confidence in communication, which he uses to build customer relationships, answer calls, price orders, and send quotations.
Additionally, his role involves working with the technical and dispatch teams to resolve client queries. He also works with the wider sales team to find ways in which we can further support the construction industry.
Value to Clients
Quick responses make all the difference in fast-paced environments with tight deadlines, especially in an industry like construction.
What sets Josh apart is that he genuinely cares about providing our customers with a good experience, so he welcomes the opportunity to help build trust and support where he can.
Meet Lottie: Strengthening Our Marketing Team
Graduate to Junior Content Producer
And last but not least, Lottie joined the team in January 2026, having graduated in 2024 with a degree in graphic design from the University of Lincoln.
Before joining Quelfire, she worked as an Assistant Seamstress and an IT Assistant, which helped her creative and problem-solving skills flourish.
Skills That Support Education
As Junior Content Producer, Lottie uses her creativity to experiment with content that’s both relaxed and digestible.
Her current focus is on educating the next generation of construction professionals via our TikTok platform, covering all aspects of firestopping.
Collaborating Across Teams
In the construction industry, technical accuracy is essential. Lottie addresses this by working with other teams, such as the technical team, to ensure all information is correct and relevant from the start.
At Quelfire, our content is all about teams collaborating to get the best outcome for our customers, always with fire safety compliance in mind.
Keith Wells, Managing Director at Quelfire, said: “Again, the team is growing! It’s been great welcoming so many new faces who all bring their own expertise to their fields. We look forward to supporting their progress here at Quelfire.”
