Intumescent Slim Fire Sleeve | QRS

Description

The QRS Fire Sleeve is specifically developed to help prevent the spread of fire through plastic ventilation ducts as they pass through compartment lines.

Built with a tough pressed steel outer shell and a high-performance graphite-based intumescent core, the sleeve reacts instantly when exposed to fire. The intumescent material expands rapidly, closing the duct opening and maintaining the integrity of the fire barrier once the plastic duct has melted away.

Versatile in its application, the sleeve can be retrofitted to existing ducts, installed in clusters to protect multiple penetrations, and is fully compatible with the QuelStop Fire Batt system.

Standards & Approvals

Building Regulations impose limitations on all pipes passing through fire compartment walls and floors.

QRS Vent Duct Slim Sleeves allow plastic ducts to meet the requirements of the Building Regulations.

QRS Vent Duct Slim Sleeves have been tested according to BSEN 1366-3 where various plastic duct sizes have met insulation and integrity criteria for this standard for up to 2 hours.

Quelfire QRS Intumescent Fire Sleeves are designed for use where plastic ventilation ducts pass through fire-rated walls, helping to maintain compartmentation and prevent the spread of fire and smoke.

The QRS Fire Sleeve requires no mechanical fixings or additional framework. Instead, it relies on the integrity of the fire-rated wall construction—whether plasterboard, solid masonry/block, or the QuelStop Fire Batt system—to hold it securely in place. For best performance, penetrations should be cut as tightly as possible to the sleeve itself. Approximate aperture sizes are provided in the Specification Details table below.
