QuelStop Intumescent Acoustic Acrylic Sealant | QSS
Description
Description
QSS QuelStop Intumescent Acoustic Acrylic Sealant is a water-based intumescent acrylic mastic used to provide a fire-rated linear joint or gap seal, and to maintain the fire rating of walls and floors where they have been penetrated by services as part of the QuelStop Fire Batt System or direct to the substrate.
On exposure to fire, it expands to reinstate the integrity of the compartment, preventing the spread of fire for the amount of time it has been proven to during testing.
Standards & Approvals
Standards & Approvals
QuelStop Intumescent Acrylic Sealant is a fundamental part of the QuelStop Fire Batt System and should be applied to all cuts, joints and exposed edges of the batt and can also be used for sealing around services such as cable, cable bundles, trays, ladders and non-combustible pipes, either as part of a seal directly within the wall substrate or as part of a QuelStop Fire Batt Seal.
QuelStop Intumescent Acrylic Sealant can also be used as a linear joint seal in a range of applications between concrete and concrete, steel or softwood and also to a gypsum board headtrack and around wooden fire door frames.
All surfaces must be clean and free of any bond breaking contamination prior to application of the sealant.
The sealant should not be applied if the ambient temperature is below 5°C or above 35°C, as the adhesion may be impaired.
The sealant is fast curing, approximately 15 – 60 minute tack free time, depending on the temperature and humidity.
In linear joint applications, mineral wool or PE backing rod, can be used as a backing material to ensure the correct depth of QuelStop Intumescent Acrylic Sealant is applied in order to achieve the required performance.
