Quelstop Ablative Coating - 5kg Tub

Description

Designed for use with the QuelStop Fire Batt System, this product offers a range of features and benefits.

Primarily, the QuelStop Ablative Coating is used to restore the fire rating of the QuelStop Fire Batt by repairing any damage caused during the installation.

It can also be utilised as part of a tested firestopping system, and applied to individual services where they cross compartment lines. This helps improve the fire-resistance performance.

The QuelStop Ablative Coating is water-based, providing easy application by brush. With its rubber-like and fire-resistant properties, this coating acts as a barrier in the event of a fire, helping to prevent the spread of fire and smoke.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are ablative coatings?

Ablative coating is a white, liquid coating applied to fire batt to repair any cracks or damage that may have occurred during installation. The main reason it is used is to reinstate the fire rating of the product.

Does ablative coating expand?

Because ablative coating is not an intumescent material, it does not expand as such, but rather chars to form a barrier.

How to use ablative coating?

The best way to apply ablative coating is by brush, as part of the QuelStop Fire Batt System. We encourage you to always check the scope of application or get in touch if you have a question!

Can I paint over ablative paint?

We do not recommended painting over any of our products. This is because we have not fire tested this scenario, meaning the outcomes are unknown, and it could compromise the effectiveness of the firestop.
