Cast In Fire Collar / Cast In Device | QuelCast
Description
Description
The QuelCast cast-in fire collar has been rigorously tested to BS EN 1366-3 (the fire resistance test standard for service penetrations) and classified to EN 13501-2 (fire classification of construction products and building elements). The QuelCast cast-in fire collar has been fire tested in a variety of applications, with some achieving 240 minutes* Integrity and Insulation fire resistance (EI 240), delivering a reliable penetration seal for plastic pipes, metal pipes and cables in concrete floors**.
By eliminating the need for post-pour drilling, the QuelCast cast-in fire collar helps protect installers from hazards associated with heavy drilling and falling debris. Its integrated lid prevents accidental falls into the open hole, ensuring a safer working environment on-site.
*EI 240 was achieved using specific testing configurations. Please check the tested scope of application to ensure suitability for specific site conditions.
**Tested in solid concrete floors. Please speak to Quelfire’s technical team for information on how the product can be used in floor systems such as hollow core or profile composite deck floors.
Standards & Approvals
Standards & Approvals
The standard QuelCast is 250mm high to suit a 250mm deep concrete slab but they can be reduced or extended to suit differing slab depths – this is a service that Quelfire offer in house so that the product is delivered to site ready to install, however it can be done on site too.
For instances where the slab depth is between 250 and 150mm, the process is: Remove the cap, Cut the top off with a saw, replace the cap and finally, we recommend sealing the cap with self-adhesive tape to ensure no concrete seepage.

For instances where the slab depth is greater than 250mm the QuelCast is fitted with an extension tube. To install these the process is: Remove the cap, insert the tube over the QuelCast body pushing down until fully seated, measure up from the base, cut the extension tube with a sharp saw or knife, replace the cap and finally, we recommend sealing the cap with self-adhesive tape to ensure no seepage.

Simple installations steps:
- Mark the formwork with a cross where the pipe is to pass through the floor
- Position the QuelCast Cast In Fire Collar as required (the centre line marks on the QuelCast Collars and Manifold help to position in the correct location)
- Attach to the formwork using screws or nails through the holes in the 4 corners of the unit
- Pour the concrete to the required depth
- On completion of concrete curing, remove all formwork and shuttering
- Remove the cap from the top of the QuelCast Collar
- Place the pipe through the QuelCast Collar
Additional instructions for QuelCast50:
When the correct diameter pipe is installed in the correct QuelCast, no backfill or sealant is needed. For QuelCast50, cable bunches, and instances where smaller diameter pipes are fitted inside larger collars, a mineral wool seal backfill is required inside the QuelCast, surrounding the service(s) tightly.
For 110mm diameter pipes inside a QuelCast110, and 160mm diameter pipes inside a QuelCast160, no backfill is required.
For more in depth installation information refer to the QuelCast Installation Guide.
*Please note that custom made items can expect to have longer lead times. Next working day is typical but can depend on outside factors not controlled by Quelfire.
