Gill Borrett

Operations Team Leader

Meet Gill, our longest-serving employee and the heart of our operations. She explains how she coordinates the production of made-to-order products while ensuring our off-the-shelf stock levels are always up to date.

Her Story

Having earned an honours degree at Manchester Polytechnic (now Manchester University), I worked for an engineering company for nearly ten years. I joined Quelfire in 1989, initially as a receptionist and general office assistant, and have since held various roles.

What She Does

My current role involves arranging despatch of orders and organising manufacturing at our facility in Nantwich, Cheshire. I’ve worked in several different areas of the business over the years, and my role has evolved with the company. My current role involves arranging despatch of orders and organising production for both our standard and bespoke products.

What Keeps Her on Her Toes

One of the biggest challenges is ensuring that made-to-order products are completed as quickly as possible, while maintaining overall stock levels. This is usually achieved through efficient planning and keeping some flexibility.

The Quelfire Experience

It’s extremely satisfying to see completed consignments leave the factory and to know they are helping keep people and property safe. Working for a professional yet friendly company is a real pleasure, and one of the things I truly value.

Off the Clock

Outside of work, I enjoy meeting up with friends, knitting, needlework, gardening, and watching football and rugby league. I especially find joy in the simple things in life, like watching the changing seasons and appreciating the beauty of nature around us.
