Foil-faced Rock Fibre Ductwrap | QFFDW

Description

QFFDW Rockwool Foil-faced Rock Fibre Insulation is a lightweight, flexible roll with a density of 45kg/m³ and a durable aluminium foil outer. It improves insulation performance, particularly in applications requiring an EI fire rating for services with high metallic content, such as cables or metal pipework.

In addition to its fire-resistant properties, it provides thermal insulation and sound absorption. Furthermore, ductwrap does not easily react with other chemicals, which ensures long-term performance and compatibility.

Standards & Approvals

  • Acoustically absorbent
  • 45kg/m3 density
  • Non-combustible
  • Water repellent
  • Chemically inert
  • Easy to handle and install

Foil-faced Rock Fibre Insulation is usually wrapped around the services butting up to the fire seal (locally interrupted), as shown on Quelfire Standard Installation Details. Ends and overlaps can be sealed with Self-adhesive Foil Tape (FOILTAPE), and 1.6mm gauge Galvanised Steel Wire (STEELWIRE) should be used to secure it around the services.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is QFFDW Foil Faced Rock Fibre Duct Wrap used for?

Ductwrap insulation is typically used to improve the insulation rating of an application when an EI rating is required.

It is important to always install the product in line with the test evidence and manufacturer’s guidance.

Can foil-faced insulation get wet?

While the foil outer is designed to resist moisture to a certain extent and protect it from getting wet, it's not entirely waterproof. Prolonged exposure to water can affect its performance.

How is the product installed?

The duct wrap is cut to size, wrapped around the service, and secured with steel tie wire and foil tape. Installation thickness and number of layers must match the tested and approved details.
