QuelStop Intumescent Acoustic Acrylic Sealant | QSS

Description

QSS QuelStop Intumescent Acoustic Acrylic Sealant is a water-based intumescent acrylic mastic used to provide a fire-rated linear joint or gap seal, and to maintain the fire rating of walls and floors where they have been penetrated by services as part of the QuelStop Fire Batt System or direct to the substrate.

On exposure to fire, it expands to reinstate the integrity of the compartment, preventing the spread of fire for the amount of time it has been proven to during testing.

Standards & Approvals

  • Fire resistance testing to BS EN 1366-3.
  • Fire resistance testing to BS EN 1366-4.
  • Classified to EN 13501-2.
  • ETA: 17/0788 and ETA: 17/0789.
  • Acoustic tested to EN 10140 to 48dB.
  • VOC Tested – ASTM D2369-10, LEED 2009-EQ041 SCAQMD.
  • Air Permeability testing to EN 1026 to 600Pa – 100Pa - 0.0/0.0m3/h/m²

QuelStop Intumescent Acrylic Sealant is a fundamental part of the QuelStop Fire Batt System and should be applied to all cuts, joints and exposed edges of the batt and can also be used for sealing around services such as cable, cable bundles, trays, ladders and non-combustible pipes, either as part of a seal directly within the wall substrate or as part of a QuelStop Fire Batt Seal.

QuelStop Intumescent Acrylic Sealant can also be used as a linear joint seal in a range of applications between concrete and concrete, steel or softwood and also to a gypsum board headtrack and around wooden fire door frames.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is QSS QuelStop Intumescent Acoustic Acrylic Sealant?

It’s a water-based acrylic sealant designed to provide fire-rated and acoustic seals for joints, gaps, and service penetrations in fire-rated walls and floors.

How does it stop the spread of fire?

When exposed to fire, the intumescent sealant chars and seals the service penetration to maintain the fire integrity and insulation of the wall or floor, helping to contain fire to the compartment of origin.

How is it applied?

It’s supplied in 310ml cartridges or 600ml foils. Both of which can be applied using a mastic gun. The sealant should be applied to clean, dust-free surfaces, with tooling off as needed for a neat finish.

How is it supplied and packaged?

The sealant is available in 310ml cartridges, supplied in boxes of 25.

We recommend ordering in full box quantities for convenience, though single cartridges can also be provided if required.

QSS is also available in 600ml foils, with 15 foils per box.
