Intufoam Linear Gap Seal | QI
Description
Description
The Intufoam Linear Gap Seal from Quelfire is a versatile, fire-resistant solution designed for sealing linear joints and the junctions between compartment walls and floors.
Its compressible foam core allows for a range of joint widths and offers flexibility. A number of products are available to suit various gap sizes, orientations, and fire rating requirements.
The QI Intufoam is tested to BS EN 1366-4 for linear gap seals. The QI50/45 has also been tested to BS EN 1366-3 when used with the QuelStop Fire Batt system. The intufoam’s fire testing ensures the effective compartmentation of the building, helping to prevent the spread of fire and smoke to the adjoining compartment.

Standards & Approvals
The system consists of 1-metre lengths of a compressible foam core, covered with a flexible intumescent material.
Different products in the range have varying numbers of material layers, making them suitable for different gap sizes and applications.
Intufoam offers a dependable, easy-to-install fire seal designed to block fire from passing through linear gaps between non-combustible surfaces, where some movement might be necessary.
The product is tested as outlined in the relevant test reports and subsequent standard installation details, typically between concrete surfaces and QuelStop Fire Batt. Its compatibility with other substrates cannot be confirmed by us and should be determined or verified by a qualified fire engineer.
Typical instances where the Intufoam may be considered are as follows:
- Vertical joints in concrete walls.
- Horizontal joints in concrete floors.
- Head of wall to underside of a concrete floor.
- Head of wall as part of a QuelStop Fire Batt service penetration seal.
Intufoam’s excellent compression and recovery enable movement within the product; the minimum and maximum gap sizes are outlined in the table below. In the event of a fire, the product will react by turning into a carbonaceous char that seals the gap.
Installation is by hand, the 1 metre lengths are simply compressed by hand and inserted in the linear gap where they will then expand holding themselves in place. Individual lengths should be installed with a tight butt joint, end to end. Where necessary to complete the length, Intufoam can be cut with a sharp knife or saw before inserting into the gap.
In some cases, a single or double width seal is required, and it may also be necessary to set the intufoam back from the exposed front face of the wall or floor. Refer to the specific installation details for complete information.
*Please note that custom made items can expect to have longer lead times. Next working day is typical but can depend on outside factors not controlled by Quelfire.
